Michigan Supreme Court | Administrative Order 2020-2 |
- The Michigan Supreme Court has directed all local courts to take measures to protect the public and court personnel from the ongoing public health crisis presented by COVID-19.
- Trial courts are ordered to “limit access to courtrooms and other spaces to no more than 10 persons, including staff, and to practice social distancing and limit court activity to only essential functions,” and proceedings will be adjourned until April 3, 2020, as described in the Administrative Order 2020-2 linked above.
- The Michigan Supreme Court’s Administrative Order 2020-2 supersedes all Local Administrative Orders that have been issued covering the same subject matter. If a lower court has a longer closure period or more restrictive distancing measures, it will remain in effect subject to due process and constitutionality considerations.
- If you have proceedings scheduled during the period of closure, contact your court clerk to verify the scheduling and procedure for your particular matter.
